Simply Leilani jewelry began as a way to take a "brain break" while tackling complex, analytical problems at work. Keeping my hands busy frees up my brain to find better solutions. My creative process is organic, straightforward, and most importantly- full of joy. (It's tough to make something beautiful and uplifting when you're in a bad mood.)
What I love most about designing jewelry is seeing someone connect their own intention or memory to the piece. Although people often ask me to explain what inspired me to make a piece, I always advise clients to select jewelry based on what speaks to them. Whether you are in search of inspiration, celebrating a milestone, or just looking for something pretty, choose something that uplifts and encourages you!
For the technical part: Bezels, links, soldered focal pieces, metal clay charms, jump rings and some ear wires, clasps, and head pins are handmade from silver clay, wire, and sheet. All sea glass and shells are beachcombed. All stones are sourced from U.S. based lapidary artists or estate sales. From time to time, I also arrange mosaics and assemble beaded and shell jewelry by hand.
With the exception of the resin mosaic pendants (which use silver plated components) only sterling silver, fine silver, and gold-filled wire and sheet are used. All designs are produced as one of a kind or very limited edition runs.
